Whether you want to gain valuable theatre experience, be part of a major community event, get to know our actors and crew or just have a great experience - we have a place for you!
The International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival is run on a not-for-profit basis and relies heavily on the efforts of volunteers to ensure that it continues to be a success. Without the hard work and enthusiasm of our volunteers the Festival simply couldn’t take place.
If you are interested in helping out do get in touch. You can come along to our volunteer meetings (details above) or email us at (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and we will get in touch. Also, if you have any particular area of interest or expertise that might be of use, please let us know.
Volunteers help out in a large number of areas which broadly divide into Marketing & Publicity, Front of House and Technical/Backstage.

This is not an exhaustive list so do talk to us if you are unsure where you might best fit in. Volunteering is open to all - gay or straight, male or female, young or old. It is a great way to meet the actors and theatre companies, other volunteers and committee, to gain some experience in theatre and to catch the festival buzz!

- Helping at Festival events: the Press Launch, the Launch Party, etc.
- Marketing & Publicity: distribution of brochures, posters and spreading the word, sponsorship
- Technical & Logistics: sourcing props & equipment, transport
During the Festival:
- Front Of House: assisting Festival patrons, programme & ticket sales, opening/closing of venues on-time
- Technical/Backstage: lighting and sound operators, preparation of stage & set, transporting props etc.
- Liaison & support: ensuring that our companies have everything they need while in Dublin, foreign languages, transport
- Academic Seminar: helping at our seminar in Trinity College on Gay Theatre.
